dollar", but we were satisfied that our claim had been admitted.
We all took the answer in that sense, and we do so still.
3. On the 29th March I wrote to you to inquire if
I was right in assuming that all the officers to whom the Crown
Agents' circular letter of the 1st September, 1938, was sent
would now be informed direct by the Crown Agents that that circular
letter was cancelled and that the 3/- rate was restored, and on the
20th April the Colonial Office informed me that it was understood
that the Crown Agents were awaiting instructions from the Govern-
ment of Hong Kongwith regard to the cancellation of the letter of
the 1st September.
